Orion soft close hinge is made from premium grade duplex 2205 stainless steel and 316 marine grade stainless steel which provide greater corrosion resistance to warm chloride environment, making it ideal for architectural applications near the seashore or coastal areas. However, all stainless steel products may stain and discolour due to surface deposits if proper maintenance schedule and procedure are not followed. For aesthetic considerations and to preserve corrosion resistance, Orion soft close hinge requires regular frequency maintenance and care depending on the environment in which the hinge operate. Please use the following maintenance procedure with the suggested maintenance time interval to maximise the life expectancy of your Orion Soft Close Hinge.
*Caution: Avoid using carbon steel brush or steel wool and all types of cleaning product containing abrasive substances as they will damage the surface finish and the chromium oxide protective layer on the hinge surface which may lead to rusting.
Also avoid bleach, chloride rich chemicals and acidic cleaners containing strong acids as they can destabilise the chromium oxide protective layer to cause surface corrosion. The usage of inappropriate cleaning product can irreparably damage your Orion soft close hinge and the cost of repair / replacement will not be covered by our Warranty.
For routine cleaning to remove mild dirt, fingerprints and soil deposits, use clean warm soap water with a non-abrasive microfiber cloth to gently clean the stainless steel surface and a final rinse with clean warm water and a dry wipe with clean microfiber cloth will complete the process and eliminate the possibility of water stains.
For effective cleaning of stubborn stain, grease and oil, use a 50% diluted alcohol/methylated spirit-water solution and a microfiber cloth to gently wipe clean all contaminants and follow by clean warm water rinse and dry wipe with clean microfiber cloth to eliminate the possibility of water stains and any residuals.
