Cut-out In Glass Top and Bottom
Orion soft close hinge is engineered specifically for frameless glass fencing applications. The unique design featuring wedges with a gradually inclined surface enables efficient soft closing action at different release angles, preventing pool gate from slamming shut and any excessive vibrations of your pool fence.
This design also allowed Orion soft close hinge to incorporate a vertical assembly for its hydraulic dampeners, with the hydraulic fluid seal facing upwards to prevent hydraulic fluid leaks. Compared to horizontally placed dampeners, dampeners under this optimal design is more durable and require less frequent service.
Additionally, Orion soft close hinge’s hydraulic dampener assembly is purposefully designed to enable hassle-free user disassembly and replacement at the end of dampener’s lifespan, to maintain effective soft closing action of your Orion soft close hinge.
As for the adjustment of self-closing tension, we have come up with a different approach to overcome all the hassles associated with adjusting conventional gate hinges – Orion soft close hinge offers quick and easy tension adjustment with just a customized Allen Key. The tension adjustment is offering eight self-closing tension levels to allow the precise selection of optimal gate closing speed settings.
Orion soft close hinge is made from premium grade duplex 2205 stainless steel – Its high chromium and molybdenum content gives the stainless steel high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and resistance to stress corrosion cracking and fatigue. These properties make Orion soft close hinge especially suitable for outdoor use in harsh Australian coastal weather conditions with volatile temperature changes and high chemical corrosion.

1. Before installation of soft close hinge, please ensure the hinge panel is securely installed and the hinge panel is measured to be level and plumb with a spirit level. The gap between hinge panel and gate is 8mm apart. For easy and quick installation, hinges have a default factory tension setting of “5”.
2. Remove all screws and binding plates and fit both hinges into the cutouts on the hinge panel with the screws on the inside and the safety cap facing upwards. Hinges should be fitted in the center of the cutouts, use the small packers (16 packers included) to fill the top and bottom gaps between the cutouts and the inserts of the hinge (see fig. 1) to prevent glass panel sagging.
3. Place the gate panel into alignment with hinge panel and check for gate height and level. Fit both hinges into the cutouts on the gate panel and use the small packers to fill the top and bottom gaps between the cutouts and the inserts of the hinge (see fig.1). Use the number of small packers to fine tune the levelness and height of the gate. Once properly aligned, securely fasten the binding plates back into place. The next step in the installation will be self-closing tension adjustment.

Important Notices:
1. After the hinges are installed, top and bottom hinges must be on the same axis (see fig.2), otherwise they will not function properly and it will impact the durability of the product.
2. All screws must be securely fastened but avoid using excessive force (e.g powered tools) when fastening binding plates as excessive force may break or damage the screws.

The recommended setting for gate closing speed is number 5 or 6 under normal operating conditions.
Important Notices:
1. The maximum tension setting allowed is “7”, please avoid over-tensioning your hinge as it can cause the tension adjustment mechanism to jam and the subsequent repair required will not be covered by our warranty.
If over-tension has occurred, avoid using excessive force to try and undo the tension which can further damage parts of the hinge, seek professional help from your hinge installer instead.
2. Difference between self-closing tension levels for top and bottom hinges should not be greater than 1 level.
To increase the tension. Insert the customized Allen key into the bottom adjustment cap and rotate clockwise to increase the tension of the spring. There is a click at each number to indicate the current level of tension is engaged.
To release the tension. Insert the customized Allen key into the bottom adjustment slot, disengage the current tension setting by turning the adjustment cap clockwise very slightly to release some tension first, then press the Allen key upwards into the adjustable cap for 2-3 millimeters. The tension should be felt whilst holding the Allen key, keep the Allen key inserted and slowly release the tension by rotating the Allen key anti-clockwise.
